Meet our Downtown Davenport GM, Nathan

This week we are here to show off another one of our amazing General Managers, Nathan Miller! Nathan has been the GM of our Davenport location located on E 2nd St for about 3 months now. Miller began his career in the food service industry when he was a teenager, working as a fry cook in Colorado. In his first three months he was made a trainer then went on to gain more responsibilities and experience. Once he hit 21, he went back to where he started at Applebee’s and became a manager, continuing to further his knowledge there for the next 17 years. After spending 30+ years in Colorado, Nathan took a leap and moved to Iowa. After spending some time training at Raising Canes, he found his way to Barrel House and we are so glad he did.

Since the Davenport remodel, Nathan describes his location as “reborn” with a new look and management, great food, with younger yet up and coming staff. He loves the fresh, quality food and is impressed with each meal that goes out. The staff at Davenport is lucky to have Nathan who strives to lead towards greatness and appreciates others that have a “some way” type of thinking.

A typical day for Nathan starts at Barrel House around 7:30am when he prepares a prep list, puts together food and/ or liquor orders, and puts together the AM drawer. As it gets closer to opening time, Nathan is a huge help in getting the final touches ready either in the kitchen or the dining room. As guests enjoy Food that Lifts their Spirits with staff that strives to provide the best experience possible, Nathan is still working on scheduling, meetings, and more while checking in with guests and providing backup for his staff. During the afternoon hours, Nathan is often found on the Expo line, preparing dishes to be sent out to our guests. Even though Nathan is into the store early each morning, he typically finds himself still enthused by the business and won’t take off for home until about 9pm.

Nathan Miller has been a wonderful addition to our team, definitely stop into our Davenport location at 211 E 2nd St to see him and his team in action! Miller says “Right now we are young and have lots of energy. We want to be a part of the community as well!”
